John gains real inspiration working on projects which build upon service redesign, enhanced medicines optimisation and genuine NHS system integration. He started his career as a practising community pharmacist and gained valuable experience in corporate pharmacy management before being appointed as Chief Executive Officer to Essex LPC. In 2009 he moved into the NHS working as a consultant to South West Essex PCT leading a project addressing service redesign and commissioning pharmacy services. He was also responsible for the production of the Pharmacy Needs Assessment. John works extensively with the Pharmaceutical Industry - drawing upon his first hand knowledge and experience of working at the coal face of the NHS, and engaging with government and regulatory bodies on pricing, reimbursement strategies, the quality agenda, innovation, new technologies and working with patient advocacy groups - often specifically identifying the implications of these key areas in terms of successful market access strategies. He is proud to have been appointed a Visiting Fellow at the newly established School of Pharmacy, University of Hertfordshire in 2005, where he continues to enjoy the on-going engagement with undergraduate and postgraduate students. In 2014 John was appointed MD at Pharmacy Management. His first LinkedIn update:-".. *Pharman* exciting place to be just now, - great reputation, great team.."

Chief ExecutiveEssex Local Pharmaceutical Committee Apr 1994 - Apr 2009By 1994 Essex LPC had gained a national reputation for defensive, adversarial isolation after a long confrontation over rural dispensing. The LPC members wanted change including NHS engagement, cross professional co-operation and commercial security. John was recruited. Further new challenges came with the new CPCF implementation in 2005 in respect to contractor engagement. John left the LPC in 2009 having met these challenges, and many others, and in so doing Essex LPC gained a national reputation as a pioneer of service development achieved through engagement and co-operative partnership working.
