Here in Portland, OR, I am completing my B.A. in Biochemistry at Reed College. At Reed I am a member of the Pre-Health club, a student run program to facilitate volunteer opportunities and work opportunities for students on their path to medicine. Prior to matriculating to Reed I spent a summer in the Local 9 Elevator Union, and served four years in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate Third Class, where I operated, and performed corrective maintenance and scheduled maintenance on Cargo/Weapon Elevator hydraulic systems aboard the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). While enlisted I spent a year working in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for the Truman's Planned Incremental Availability, deployed to the Arabian Gulf for Operation Inherent Resolve, and the North Atlantic for NATO exercises in Operation Trident Junction. My academic interests pertain to metabolism, nutrition, immunology, medicine, computer science, and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
