Did all the writing as an independent contractor for this fast-growing tech company founded by former Microsoft and Amazon employees. The company's primary sales channel is Amazon, where it has its own marketing site.

Spent more than five years working full-time as the sole writer in a group with more than 500 employees who create volume licensing applications and licensing programs at Microsoft.  IT pros at large companies use these important apps to purchase tens of billions of dollars annually of software and services from Microsoft. I was responsible for all help content and user interface (UI) text in these apps, as a member of the user experience (UX) team.

Left Microsoft after 12 years to try working at a smaller tech organization, after I was recruited by the marketing director for the Bluetooth SIG. This worldwide trade association for Bluetooth technology has its headquarters in Kirkland WA.  • Continuously refined web strategy to promote Bluetooth technology and products• Worked with graphic designers and user experience team to improve usability and site design • Created Google Analytic reports analyzing our site traffic• Used search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to improve site trafficAccomplishments • Wrote more than 100 blog posts, including ghost-writing for our Executive Director• Led the launch of a completely new Bluetooth.com website• Helped boost web traffic by more than 50 percent

Writer on the Windows product team, which created all the user assistance "help content" for Microsoft's biggest and arguably most important product, Windows. • Authored a wide variety of articles, help topics, columns, and video scripts as a Senior Writer on the Windows User Assistance (help) team. • Helped author a state-of-the-art new help system with more than 2,500 topics and articles to assist people using Windows 7.• Worked with program managers, usability researchers, and designers to craft user interface text that goes into many screens and dialogs in Windows 7. • Filmed, wrote and narrated videos about Windows 7. • Tagged web content in XML • Learned several different custom Content Management Systems

Wrote and edited articles, blog posts and more for the Microsoft Engineering Excellence Group (EEG), the internal training group at Microsoft.

Wrote and edited marketing content for the Windows Server website on Microsoft.com. Managed four other writers and oversaw content planning. Also wrote for the Microsoft Exchange Server website.

Started my career at Microsoft writing editing content for the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) website. Oversaw content planning for the MSDN home page, interviewed architects and other software development leaders around the company, and wrote a column.

Wrote and edited articles for Windows Watcher (now defunct), a monthly newsletter that provided subscribers with in-depth analysis of Microsoft products and strategies.

Spent a year writing about Microsoft and related software companies for this national technology and business magazine.

Wrote and reported on Microsoft and many other local technology companies for this daily newspaper (now defunct) that covered Redmond, Bellevue, and the surrounding tech communities east of Seattle. For nearly four years I also wrote a weekly column on personal computing.
