I'm an electronics design engineer and the founder of PredictableDesigns.com. We help entrepreneurs, startups, makers, inventors, and small companies develop new electronic hardware products.I'm also a contributing writer for Makezine.com (Make: Magazine), Entrepreneur.com, and Hackster.ioI was a senior microchip design engineer for Texas Instruments (TI) for 15 years, and have nearly 30 years experience designing electronics. You almost certainly have multiple devices with TI microchips inside, and probably even a device or two with a chip I designed.I started designing electronics, building robots, and programming computers when I was about 14 (okay I was a geek) – and shortly thereafter I began studying entrepreneurship (boy did I love the library back then). I have a MSEE degree specializing in microelectronics and graduated with honors. While working for TI I designed many successful microchips (some of their most profitable) which are now in various popular electronic devices including several Apple products. I also founded a hardware startup based on a consumer lighting product which sold in hundreds of retail locations in three countries. I fully developed the product and setup manufacturing in Asia. I also oversaw marketing, sales, tradeshows, logistics, and managed a team of over 20 sales reps.In addition to technology and entrepreneurship, I also have a wide variety of other interests including everything from theoretical physics to grizzly bears to paleoanthropology.
