Solving problems and being a part of a team is what I enjoy. With honest, open communication we are able to accomplish anything. Organization, determination, and methodology are cornerstones of my work ethic; we must constantly strive to better ourselves for our own well-being and for that of mankind.Life is both a challenge and a reward entwined as one. The hard work is never over; we must all push ourselves to be better so we may be able to bring others up. I am passionate about the geoscience field and have enjoyed the experiences life has given me.Beginning in the culinary industry, I learned the value of blending what you love with what you can get paid for. In those years, I was fortunate to work for some of the finest restaurants and learn the value of a hard-earned dollar. As I grew, I reconsidered pursuing a college education, enrolled in classes at Houston Community College, and found myself at the University of Houston. I continued to cook while attending school, and finished a dual degree in geophysics and geology with a math minor from the University of Houston.Within recent years, I have enjoyed experiencing both land and marine geophysical data acquisition and processing with various instruments:geophones, gravimeter, ground penetrating radar (GPR), gyrocompass, High Precision Acoustic Positioning (HiPAP) transducer, inertial measurment unit (IMU), light detection and range (LIDAR), magnetometer, multibeam echo sounder, real-time kinematic GPS, seismometer, side scan sonar, subbottom profiler, subsea transponders, and total station.I am accepting, sedulous, open-minded, and love to challenge myself.Feel free to leave me a message or send me an email to johntobeck@gmail.com so we can converse.
