RAs are assigned to a residence hall or apartment building serving 30-70 students in their living area. RA responsibilities include being a resident educator and community builder as well as providing on-call support, which includes carrying and responding to their specific living area’s RA phone. These responsibilities are achieved through inviting residents into their everyday lives and building intentional relationships with those on their floor and in their building. RAs play a first-hand role in integrating the Community Learning Plan (CLP) into the residential experience, which fulfills Residence Life’s mission of intentionally growing and teaching GCU residents outside of the classroom. As part of the CLP, RAs are responsible for having Intentional Conversations with their residents in addition to planning Community Gatherings which not only foster community but also educate residents on important topics. Along with carrying out the CLP, RAs will fulfill their leadership role by assisting with the roommate conflict resolution process, housing inspections and the check-in/check-out process. Show less
