With 80,000 beneficiaries and a total cost over $5 billion, the settlement helps to bring closure and promote healing and reconciliation for those affected by this dark chapter in Canadian history.I worked full-time 2008-2015, and continued two days/week while completing full-time law school studies until the conclusion of my work in 2017.• Managed policy and litigation for a large national tribunal set up to adjudicate claims of abuse arising from Indian Residential Schools, which resulted in over 4,000 face-to-face hearings each year with over 100 adjudicators and 270 staff.• Led stakeholder consultations, coordinated internal work teams, drafted proposals, supported court-appointed Chief Adjudicator and Executive Director as member of the senior executive team, in order to ensure fair, efficient and timely resolution of claims.• Managed major litigation case to ensure long-term privacy of survivors of abuse, including coordinating litigation strategy; drafting affidavits, factums, and orders; liaising with in-house and external legal counsel; and supporting communications activities.• Conducted seminars and Continuing Legal Education courses on claims process and directed orientation and annual training for team of over 100 independent adjudicators.
