Humanity drives, and is driven by, architecture. My love of Architecture and Urban Design does not come just from my love of the arts and over attention to detail, but also my love of machines. Towns and cities are social machines that change and evolve as they grow. Each building on its site, and site in its neighborhood, creating the parts of the whole. Before I knew the vocabulary to be able to talk about it, I was always interested in how the creation of a new focal point in my town would change the way of life there so much. Even if that was just a new restaurant opening leading to some more traffic in that area, or when a large movie theatre shut down and, for some reason, my favorite arcade and burger spot not long after. The urban fabric is created by architecture, and by extension architecture defines the way we live. I have spent the better part of two decades learning to build, craft, and think about space and form in a way that has helped me understand not only how we perceive the world, but how small changes can impact us so much. Having spent years studying sociology, sculpting, construction, and architecture I have developed a love for the urban landscape. The way architecture stitches together, or breaks apart, the urban fabric of our world is endlessly complex and endlessly fascinating. My hope as an architect is to be able to understand and augment the impact of everything I work on. To create more lively and enjoyable city spaces, and to bring together ecology and architecture in a sustainable and real way. My goal is to understand the theory of architecture and work with designers, managers, and other architects to create a better built landscape for us to inhabit and enjoy. I see myself as an Architect and a Theorist both in practice and academically. I never want to stop learning about the world of architecture, because it never stops surprising and fascinating me. I can talk for days about details and movements and how they impact the areas around them. I often come off as overly passionate about my goals, and possibly overly optimistic about the world of architecture. But I believe architecture is the mirror to our way of life. It reflects and is defined by us, and it has the power to change the way we live our lives throughout time.
