CAREER HIGHLIGHTS· Implemented flexible work practices for unionized facility with 100 hourly mechanics. Annual savings of $2-3 MM since 1999.· Reduced costs at 3 pulp mills through an outsourced maintenance services company. The goal was to achieve world-class maintenance cost per tonne produced. The joint venture partnership was the first in the Canadian Pulp & Paper industry.· Managed a team that developed a Lotus Notes based root cause failure analysis (RCFA) system. The RCFA’s were completed to resolve chronic problems. The system is the corporation wide standard for International Paper (IP) today.· Managed a 28 day shutdown (turnaround) with a budget of $7.9MM. Completed the work on schedule and within budget.· Completed best practices audits of world-class reliability practices at 15 IP facilities in North America. The audit results were used to develop action plans to improve reliability and productivity.· Completed reorganization of maintenance and reliability departments in 3 facilities to reduce costs and maximize efficiency.· Completed manufacturing excellence assessments at 2 IP mills resulting in cost savings, production improvement and improved reliability.· Implemented a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) that resulted in reliability and efficiency improvements.· Completed an assessment of the maintenance and reliability systems at a Greenfield mill in Rizhao, China. The report was to be used to set up the mill reliability department.· Twice participated in industry wide negotiations for pulp and paper collective agreement in British Columbia. The negotiations resulted in 365 day running, trades flexibility and longer term contracts.· Completed the Beta test for the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professional (SMRP) certification.
