John Fontana is an AIPG certified professional geologist, NGWA certified and licensed well driller, and owner of Vista GeoScience. Vista is a certified small business serving the Rocky Mountain, Midwest and Gulf Coast regions. Not just a drilling company, Vista provides high resolution site characterization (HRSC) services to aid with conceptual site model (CSM) development, and optimized in-situ injection remediation services to consulting and engineering firms across the country. More unique specialties include Landfill Tier-2 Gas Testing, Passive and Active soil gas surveys, investigation of stray natural gas (methane) migration from natural or infrastructure releases, and interpretive reports with 3D modeling. Vista acquired the assets of ESN Rocky Mountain and Direct Geochemical in 2006. Vista sold its' geochemical laboratory and exploration services division to PT Sapta Servisindo, in Jarkarta, Indonesia, in 2015. Vista's core focus is now providing one-stop services for advanced site characterization and in-situ remediation applications. John was nomimated by the AAPG and was appointed to serve as a member of EPA's Science Advisory Board (SAB) - Hydraulic Fracturing Research Advisory Panel. The Panel provided individual expert comments on charge questions associated with the research described in EPA's Study on the Potential Impacts of Hydraulic Fracturing on Drinking Water Resources. The SAB anticipates that the Panel will a peer review progress and draft reports that will synthesize the results from the ongoing EPA projects and research together with the scientific literature to answer the study's main research questions regarding hydraulic fracturing and drinking water resources.

Managed all operations for ennvironmental support services including direct-push (Geoprobe) drilling, mobile and fixed based laboratories, in-situ remediation and injection services. First dba as TEG Rocky Mountain and later changed name to ESN (Environmental Services Network) Rocky Mountain. Direct Geochemical was included in the merger and operated as the dba for the oil & gas exploration division.

Owned and operated a laboratory and field services firm providing geochemical exploration services and consulting to the oil and gas industry. Developed new field sampling and analytical methods for exploration of oil and gas and baseline identification of natural gas seeps (methane) or leaking facilities. Environmental service division started 1990 including Geoprobe and Mobile Laboratory services. Merger with TEG Rocky Mountain in 1996.
