About John Wagoner

Museum Mountmaker for the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. I design, fabricate, faux paint and install a wide range of complex artifact mounts within the museum. I was also a museum mountmaker for over 4 years at Sanders Museum Services, creating armatures and mounts for various institutions nationwide. I also have over 15 years of experience teaching art and art history as an Associate Professor at the collegiate level.In 2015, I was named a 40 under 40 honoree, an annual award given by the Greater Shreveport and Bossier Chamber of Commerce. Awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award by the National Institute of Staff & Organizational Development (NISOD) in 2014.I have taught various courses such as Introduction to Visual Arts (Face to Face, Hybrid & Online Formats), Art History I & II, History of Media Arts, Art for Elementary Teachers, Color Theory, 2-D Design, 3-D Design, Drawing I & II, Ceramics I & II, Painting I & II, Photoshop (I’m an Adobe Certified Professional in Visual Design Using Adobe Photoshop) and Bridging Traditional To Digital Art.     Mountmaker for the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum and the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum. I fabricate, fit, assemble, and install custom hardware mounts, armatures, display systems, low-voltage display lighting components, and associated artwork. Mounts created with a variety of metals, plastics, foams, woods, fabrics, and other exhibition materials utilizing brazing, soldering, welding, drilling, cutting, fastening, sanding, filing, and painting techniques. I produce design documents, including photographs, notes, drawings, and specifications necessary to produce custom mounts, hardware, display support components and systems for a variety of artworks and artifacts.
