JOHN W. BARTLETT is an attorney and public official. As a County Commissioner, he shares authority over a $450+ million annual budget, and represents the county on the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, where he served as Chairman of the Board (2022-2023). NJTPA is the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for northern New Jersey, responsible for allocating about $2 billion in federal infrastructure funding every year. John also serves as a commissioner of the Passaic County Board of Social Services (2013-16, 2022- ), and as the County's representative on the non-profit Friends Of Passaic County Parks and Friends of Dey Mansion. Before law school, he was a Raoul Wallenberg Scholar at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, wrote for The Associated Press in Israel, and served as communications director for the national anti-crime organization Fight Crime: Invest in Kids in Washington, D.C. His prior legal experience includes litigation roles at Lowenstein Sandler and Genova Burns, and a year as Legal & Policy Counsel at the NJ Institute for Social Justice.
