John W. Bartlett was elected in 2021 to his fourth term as a County Commissioner (formerly Freeholder), and selected by his colleagues to be Director of the Board in 2024. He completed his second year as Chairman of the Board of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (www.njtpa.org), which prioritizes and allocates over $3 billion in annual transportation planning and improvements for 6.6 million New Jerseyans from the Shore to the New York border.Over 12 years of service, John has worked with his colleagues to establish and achieve priorities in education, infrastructure, public health, economic development, social services, sustainability, and, most recently, helping County residents and businesses weather the challenges of a global pandemic. In 2020, John managed Passaic County's #Census2020 outreach effort, achieving the highest self-reporting rate in recent decades despite the challenges caused by the COVID19 pandemic. Prior to law school, Mr. Bartlett was a Raoul Wallenberg Scholar at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, wrote for The Associated Press in Jerusalem, Israel, and served as communications director for the national anti-crime organization Fight Crime: Invest in Kids in Washington, D.C.He is a trustee and past president of the Harvard Law School Association of New Jersey, and a 2007 Fellow of Leadership New Jersey.
