My role is to work with key stakeholders to develop tools to enhance profitability. Objectives of this role are to improve the visibility of stocks, to illustrate key business metrics and to identify areas for business improvement.

My role as Plastics products buyer involves stock management strong negotiation skills and supplier management. This role encompasses the company’s indirects spends. Controlling these at group level means managing complex tenders, information gathering from three computer platforms are skills employed. Largest part is communications with group companies to achieve buy in.

I am responsible at a divisional level for four business units dealing with an indirect spend amounting to £15 million.

Stock management and stock turnover was a major KPI for the company and myself; maintaining the correct stock balance purchased from the best sources at the best prices. This area of experience was a major part of new learning for me yielding wider experience.Close relationships with suppliers is a key feature, together with structured feedback and keen appraisal systems have improved my suppliers performance, achieving better service, quality and delivery times. With the background of strategic sourcing and pooling of resources I feel that my experiences are key to a more complete sourcing role.
