At Ontrac Communications, we are transitioning from primarily being a Fiber to the Home (FTTH) fulfillment provider to becoming a full turnkey FTTH deployment contractor. This transformation has been fueled by our recent acquisition of highly competent and experienced talent, enabling us to expand our portfolio to include comprehensive design and construction services.As the Director of Engineering, I am blessed to be apart of this transition, leading the design and engineering efforts. My responsibilities include managing and overseeing the design of our projects, ensuring that all engineering plans meet the highest standards of technical accuracy and compliance with industry regulations and best practices. I conduct professional engineering reviews and collaborate with various teams to deliver solutions that enhance our FTTH networks and other communications infrastructure projects.

-Fiber and Broadband Engineering, Consulting, and Project Management. -Professional Engineering review and stamping of broadband projects.

Erwin Fiber: I designed, implemented, and managed Erwin Fiber. Erwin Fiber is Erwin Utilities Fiber to the Home Broadband department. Erwin Fiber connected its first customer in March 2015 with only one employee. Today Erwin Fiber has over 3,400 customers and 7 employees. Erwin Fiber does all the engineering and construction of their system.PISANO: Created a web based application called PISANO for engineering and operations. PISANO modules include OMS, Fiber operations, remote SCADA, Service order system, and others. It was designed to be used in the office and in the field and is used by all employees in the organization.Fiber Backbone: Assisted contractors on the design and build of Erwin Utilities fiber backbone ring. One month after competition installed a 1G transparent LAN circuit to all Unicoi County School Board locations. The fiber backbone is now also used by Erwin Fiber to feed POP sites and PON cabinets serving all of our end customers.SCADA: I managed and installed Erwin Utilities SCADA system. I worked with other EU employees to connect all Electric, Water, and Waste water sites. Replaced several broken and insufficient control systems during the SCADA upgrade. Worked with other EU engineers to design a demand response system to create $15K savings per month for EU rate payers. We were able to implement demand response without AMI due to our extensive GIS models. We did this by calculating the limits of the demand response then totally automate the process with SEL RTAC controllers.Outage Management System (OMS): Using our existing phone system I was able to pull data and calls to create an in-house OMS. The system now handles all of our electric outage system calls. Later integrated Erwin Fiber's customer premise equipment alarms to add automated outage detection for all Erwin Fiber customers.

-Utility billing software design. -Consulted with a sister company to reverse engineer a legacy program using wireshark to rewrite several RPC calls for an undocumented API.

Operate and maintain Fiber Optic Headend for Cable TV, Internet and Telephone. Manage and maintain Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) phone system and personnel. On call supervisor for Fiber Optic System and Electric System. Operate and manage Geographic Information System (GIS) and personnel. Develop programs for outage reporting system and scheduling system for new customer installs. Create database programs to connect billing, mapping, help desk, meter reading, and other databases together. Design and engineer new fiber optic construction to serve new and existing electric customers.
