About John Wissinger
The Difference between a Dream and a GoalIt's more than just having a plan. It's pulling the right team together, thinking it through, putting attention on all those details that matter, positive-minded perseverance through adversity, and continuously innovating around obstacles. Much of my work experience has revolved around being called to "pull this thing together, and get it done", whether that meant launching a new product, establishing a new business site, designing a new research facility, pursuing a new market opportunity, or creating a new business process. What has helped me to deliver is a confident competence that comes from having experienced so many situations across business models, technologies HW/SW/Data, organizational structures, application market settings, cultural environments, and having to perform under a diversity of requirements, expectations, and external stressors. The foundations in my analytic style of thinking have always been a strategic vision for what we're trying to do that unfolds over time, a view of technology from an overall systems and user value perspective, and an ability to figure out what we need to learn and keep on learning in order to do the job right. Most recently, I have been working on emerging challenges in Artificial Intelligence (AI). From one perspective, I co-founded a venture (Prism Informatix) that is engineering software systems that embody distributed intelligence in the sense that they learn from dispersed data, without the need for centralization, and self-organize into a virtual network system to make predictions. From another perspective I am part of a team (Blackbird.AI) that is tackling the societal challenges brought on by the confluence of social media and artificially generated falsehood, and the use of adversarial technology to undermine our ability to trust the information we are consuming to make decisions of consequence for governments, enterprises, and individual citizens.US Citizen.
