I am a Physicist by training, having earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Virginia. I studied the spectrum of the Dirac operator in lattice QCD, an area that required intense coding and running simulations of interactions of quarks in background gauge fields. As a result, I have experience in numerical modeling, simulations, and handling large data sets.After graduate school, I worked at SNL Financial in Charlottesville, VA. I started as an analyst in the banking group and progressed through the ranks to become the Senior Director of Product Operations. While at SNL, I managed a large and diverse group of people in the US, UK, India, and Pakistan. These groups focused on client support and basic research activities within the sectors covered by SNL (Financial Institutions, Real Estate, Energy, and Media and Communications).During the same period, I started training in Brazilian Jiujitsu and earned the rank of Black Belt. I have also studied and trained in other grappling arts, such as Judo and Catch Wrestling. My experiences include coaching and teaching others, and I have developed strong skills in these areas. I am currently a part-time instructor at Gracie Charlottesville and operate an invitation-only academy, 434 BJJ LLC, that trains high-level grapplers in these arts.After my time at SNL I founded McCune Robotics LLC, which is focused on consumer applications for automated processes. Past work included remotely operated consumer products with built-in learning algorithms to reduce user fatigue. Recently it has moved into the medical device space, developing assisted movement braces for people with peripheral neuropathy. Bishop Analytics LLC came out of early work done with McCune Robotics. It focuses on machine learning applications for complex systems and bulk data analysis. Work done by it has included the development of novel options trading algorithms and analysis of user churn in subscription-based web services.
