MD Candidate at UCSF with a committed interest in Emergency Medicine, Health Equity, and Healthcare Management. I am a native of the Bay Area, California with a shared upbringing in Esteli, Nicaragua, and Taipei, Taiwan. During my undergrad, I served as an executive in the Berkeley Medical Reserve Corps (BMRC)—a volunteer-based, federally deployable responder unit of EMT-Bs on the UC Berkeley campus. This role was my introduction to the breadth of knowledge and acuity of conditions in Emergency Medicine. I also developed a systems-based understanding of coordinating with local first responder agencies and stakeholder groups to provide emergency care services. I incorporated these lessons into my BA in Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy and Management. At UCSF, I continue to develop my clinical knowledge and interdisciplinary framework through novel projects and opportunities in patient care and physician education. These include research exploring disparate health outcomes in the Emergency Department for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients and helping develop and implement a Business of Emergency Medicine curriculum for EM residents. In my professional career, I am a research consultant for Rx4good where I spend time working through organizational challenges within the patient advocacy landscape.
