Associate Provost Of International OperationsHarrison College Apr 2010 - Dec 2012Indianapolis, Indiana, UsBusiness development and operations management. I was charged with the task of design, start-up, and implementation of an international division for Harrison College. I travelled extensively in Asia and Africa, setting up partnerships with multiple institutions that endure to this day and result in Harrison College enrollments. I enjoyed starting up a business within a business that leveraged core assets but deployed them in new ways to help the institution reach new learners. -
Vice President Of Academic AffairsRasmussen College May 2002 - May 2010Bloomington, Mn, UsI drove a standardization and quality improvement agenda during a time of unprecedented growth for the institution. This college system grew from 6 campuses to 18 locations during my tenure, and from 65 full-time faculty to nearly 200. I implemented quarterly metrics reporting and analysis for academic leaders at the campuses, installed a new organizational model of program leadership, oversaw the deployment of a new placement test for incoming students, and at one point in time helped the organization achieve 11 consecutive quarters of year-over-year student retention growth.I also oversaw online course design and development during part of my tenure and lead the design and implementation of a merit pay system for faculty that was guided by a multifaceted performance measurement system. It was also during my tenure that Rasmussen successfully applied to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) for a name change of two of its college assets (2 locations of Webster College in Florida and 2 locations of Aakers College in North Dakota), making all 4 of these locations regionally accredited Rasmussen locations. During my final year with Rasmussen we also received a 10 year grant of reaccreditation. -
DeanOhio Dominican University Sep 2001 - Mar 2002Columbus, Oh, UsI was hired by an innovative president who sought to address significant enrollment and revenue shortfalls with an aggressive agenda that included the addition of online programs and a plan to develop in-house capabilities for the marketing to and recruitment of accelerated adult learner students, where these had previously been provided by an outside partner. Together we launched the institution's first online program offering. My former employer, having recently acquired a college system, asked that I return and serve in the role of VPAA over those schools. At the time I found ODU to be a wonderful institution (I had previously served as a frequent adjunct faculty member) and was proud of its service to nearly 1000 adult students, making my departure a very difficult decision. -
Business DevelopmentDeltak Jun 1999 - Sep 2001Maitland, Florida, UsEduprise was one of the earliest providers of instructional technology services for colleges and universities. It was a start-up owned by Collegis, who had previously only provided IT outsourcing to the higher education market. I secured several contracts for Eduprise, ranging from consulting engagements to multi-year service contracts for online course and faculty development, as well as CMS/LMS hosting and help desk services.Eduprise was merged into Collegis (for a short time the company was actually called CollegisEduprise) until Collegis was sold to Sunguard. At that time a small group about 45 individuals were retained to create Deltak. At Deltak I was the lead salesperson on our first long-term engagement with a university where we were contracted to provide not only course and faculty development resources, but also marketing and admissions support, in exchange for a revenue-sharing arrangement spanning 7 years. I was also responsible for selling another long-term deal a short time later. The model has since been replicated by multiple companies. Deltak was eventually purchased by WIley in 2012.In 2001 I was deployed to assist Deltak with its recent investment in Rasmussen College, and charged with standardization of its curriculum as well as the responsibility of obtaining accreditor approvals for online programs. -
Higher Education Business DevelopmentSpss 1999 - 2000SPSS hired me to assist their higher education sales division with the sale of a new product they obtained through acquisition. The company purchased a UK-based software company that had developed one of the first business intelligence / data mining tools (Clementine). Working with SPSS leadership we developed two new avenues for the product in higher education, which were institutional research and graduate programs (primarily MBA programs). I worked as a commissioned sales representative helping the largely outbound-calling sales team to identify and close opportunities.
