Supported the Navy on a project for National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to evaluate Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 213 and make recommendation for updating the requirements of the standard. Had a significant role in a program for the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to investigate improved restraint for occupants in the patient compartment of ambulances, this included selection of restraints, conducting sled and crash testing and analyzing the data from this testing. Was a principal participant in the design and development of the Common Crashworthy Occupant Protection System (CCOPS) for Army wheeled trucks. As Armament Group project engineer, he modified and developed armament support equipment, as well as a new rail launcher specification for the Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force, and was responsible for assuring interface compatibility to all Navy aircraft.
