Conduct research to develop information technologies for identifying patterns from large-scale dynamic social networks, to discover principles underlying the social influence and the dynamic evolution of networks, and to develop computational social science models to predict the behaviors of networks.A special focus of my research is to analyze the interactions of people (e.g., cancer survivors) in social media (e.g., online forum, twitter, Facebook) to improve our understanding about their needs, the impacts of these interactions (e.g., emotion support, behavior changes), influential users, and to design personalized interventions based on these understanding.Inspired by the important role of human experience in naturalistic decision making, my research has also developed tools and models that capture human analytic reasoning experience of cyber analyst and recommend relevant experience for supporting decision makings. My research team has also developed a patented agent-based model (US patent 8442839) that enables proactive information sharing by anticipating information needs of human or agent teammates using a computational shared mental model based on Recognition-Primed Decision (RPD).
