The Justice Management Division (JMD), Equal Employment Opportunity Staff (EEOS) is responsible for developing policy, methods, and procedures for implementing a model EEO program that complies with established Departmental policies, Government-wide EEO statutes and regulations, and EEO-related Presidential Executive Order. EEOS provides advice, technical assistance, and support to management officials and bureau EEO personnel, and also works closely with Human Resources and diversity and inclusion officials to support EEO for all, and to provide a work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Additionally, EEOS maintains the integrity of EEO programs by monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of all DOJ Component EEO programs, and compliance with established Departmental EEO policy and procedures.My responsibilities: oversight and administration of the EEO complaints process, which include the counseling, mediation, investigation for employees and applications to the DOJ's Offices, Boards, and Divisions; provision of authoritative technical advice and training to DOJ employees and management officials on all matters related to the EEO process; development of departmental policies, in consultation with DOJ Legal Counsel, and advancement of progressive EEO practices; strategic development of new EEO programs and initiatives, including those that lean forward with technology; and support of departmental affirmative employment and diversity and inclusion efforts.

The Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CRCL) Complaints Management and Adjudication Section (CMAS) leads the processing and adjudication of equal employment opportunity (EEO) complaints filed at DHS. The Section prepares final actions on all formal EEO complaints filed by DHS employees, former employees, and applicants for employment who allege discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Equal Pay Act of 1963, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008, and Executive Orders prohibiting discrimination on the bases of parental status and sexual orientation. My role:-Lead the drafting and processing of merit Final Agency Decisions (FADs); procedural FADs, Final Orders on EEOC Administrative Judge decisions, decisions on awards of compensatory damages and attorney’s fees, and determinations on allegations of breach of settlement agreements. -Leverage technology to improve timeliness and effectiveness both internally at DHS and externally in partnership with the EEOC's digital initiatives.-Advocate and educate on the opportunities and concerns that lie at the intersection points between employment law and social media.
