Field Biologist in Water Utility Department responsible for performing various biological tasks including:- Biological impact surveys for nesting migratory birds, San Francisco Dusky Footed Woodrat, Red-Legged Frog, California Tiger Salamander, and Western Pond Turtle.- Biological monitoring of field construction projects (on dams, pipelines, treatment plants, etc); communicating technical information to field construction crews, and creating buffers zones to avoid impacts to sensitive species. - Implementing the required permit conditions from various permits such as Lake and Streambed Alteration agreements, Biological opinions, and the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Plan (VHP). Habitat mapping under the VHP which included field Identification of land cover types, GIS mapping of project footprints and habitat specific project impacts, field identification of tree and wetland plant species, and assessment of proposed project impacts. - Fish relocation operations that included utilizing backpack electrofisher, live cars, live wells, and water quality monitoring. - Habitat and presence/absence surveys for Least bell’s vireo and tricolored blackbird. Responsible for identifying and surveying for various migratory birds and sensitive species including RLF, CTS, WPT, San Francisco Dusky Footed Woodrat and rare plant species including serpentine plants.- Experience with boat electrofishing for fish body burden analysis and burrow examination for sensitive amphibians with burrow cameras. - Headed multiple GIS/GPS projects in my unit including mapping San Francisco Dusky Footed Woodrat Nest locations along the Santa Clara Valley Water District Dams, mapping and habitat assessment of SCVWD Percolation Pond Maintenance habitat mapping, and the habitat mapping of various weed abatement activities at the SCVWD.
