Started the team at Twitter and built an org with strategic vision and currently managing managers and IC’s in distributed location. Continuously building a world class engineering and SRE team by hiring, coaching and providing professional development and feedback to highly competent team. Provided guidance to the team by setting quarterly goals/OKR and build a roadmap for the services that we support in collaboration with our partners and customers. Recommend and decide on the architectural, implementation, and capacity planning needs of production environment at the same time improving the performance, availability, scalability and other operating metrics (uptime, repair SLA, etc.). Worked closely with various internal customers and provided feedback on the state of the clusters as well as best in class support meeting defined SLA’s for response time and resolution. Helped launched the company product by establishing and documenting database processes and making sure that customer data is properly protected and setup. Managed MySQL cluster running in AWS EC2 instances. Migrated to 3-node Percona XtraDB cluster setup with minimal downtime. Provided support and mentoring to devops engineer and data analysts by teaching them on how to properly setup and use production and analytics databases. Consulted with the rest of the team on how to identify bad queries and optimize them. Started and documented most of the devops and database process, ie. backup, disaster recovery, failover, deploys/releases, migration process, establishing new instance, etc. Led and managed the project in migrating the full AWS stack from an old infrastructure to a new one, from one availability zone to another. Led and successfully implemented a project to cut the infrastructure costs by more than 50% by analyzing AWS ec2, snapshots, s3, memory and disks usage and creating a plan to migrate and create new instances that will be best for the app and database core components. Provided support to upper management by continuously providing technical details on what is happening with the company’s infrastructure setup as well as teaching how MySQL works and how to support it. Provided 24x7x365 on-call support for databases as well as backup support for backend services.

Responsible for the database administration of all databases at YouTube (dev, qa and production), which involves reviews of database usage with the development, ops and architecture team. Successfully executed database sharding and splits. Migrated all of YT database infrastructure to Google infrastructure in terms of operations work. Successfully setup a new datacenter in terms of DB preparation, testing and implementation. Migrated data warehouse running in Oracle to MySQL. Implemented databases changes during pushes with minimal downtime. Successfully upgraded MySQL to a newer version and documented most of the DBA processes. Helped design some of the automation of DBA duties to minimize time and work of the DBA’s. Continuously advises development team on schema changes, sql tuning and code implementation in terms of database access. Led 4 Senior DBA’s in San Jose and 6 DBA’s in India. Simplified and enhanced the push/release process from dev, qa and live environment. Designed and Implemented different data warehousing databases for merchant reporting, fraud analysis and financial reports. Supported and implemented database and code releases. Provided 7/24 support on production, QA and development databases. Managed very large (multiple terabytes) Oracle databases including installation, configuration and performance tuning. Provided support and consultation to developers, ETL team and other database users in terms of schema definition, data modeling, sql optimization, pl/sql creation. Supported and implemented projects to scale current database and meet increasing number of users for PayPal. Successfully led a project to implement internal data warehouse, virtual debit cards, mobile payments, reporting databases for merchant, billing system and financial system databases within a span of 16 weeks.
