As a learning specialist (special educator), I tracked the progress of students with disabilities in my classes and differentiated materials so all students could access the content. I also oversaw a caseload of nine students with disabilities, communicating and coordinating with all their teachers to ensure they were getting the support they needed. I compiled data on these students to write their annual Individualized Education Plans and monitored their progress towards specific goals set during their annual meetings. In addition, I helped my caseload of students develop goals and plans for after high school, and supported them as they worked towards those goals.

I planned and implemented a variety of high school math and science courses: Computer Science, Intro to Programming, Chemistry, Physics, Honors Physics, Integrated Algebra/Algebra I, and International Baccalaureate Math Studies--a course covering the fundamentals of higher algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, probability, and calculus. Each year I taught four different classes, planning 2-4 different curricula.During each of the four years I worked at the school, I led an Advisory of 8-11 students (7th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade respectively) and oversaw their academic progress as well as their socio-emotional development. While meeting three times a week, I checked in with students individually, facilitated group discussions, and led them through grade-appropriate projects or initiatives. Most notably, I helped prepare my high school advisees for standardized tests and I helped guide them through the college admissions process.
