Currently I work at Campbell's lab of department of Biological Science at Clemson University, SC, USA. I am working at functional redundancy of microbiome across different ecosystem through genomics. This projects aims to characterize the ecological rules that relate functional redundancy to habitat complexity across a wide array of environmental and host-associated microbiomes.

I have also worked as PA-II in the project entitled “Environmental impact assessment study” in CIOB after and before mining in the Biological Oceanography Division, National Institute of Oceanography, Goa. During this project, I have participated in 36days’ cruise at Central Indian Ocean Basin for conducting EIA studies after Poly Metallic Nodule Mining. This helped me to learn several onboard sampling gears and their operation such as epibenthic sled, beam trawl, bongo net, Multiple plankton net, multiple corers, and box corer. During this study, I have worked on deep-sea microbial ecology by studying taxonomy and diversity through 16S- and 18S rRNA metagenome and bacterial community of oxygen minimal zones of the Arabian sea.

During this period I have worked on several projects in Microbial Ecology including 1. My Ph.D focused on “Diversity, genomic studies and resistance mechanisms of moderate halophilic bacteria: insights from Salinivibrio sp. isolated from Marakkanam salt pan”. Specifically, I studied the bacterial community of the Marakkanam salt pan (South India; Salinity 120, 380 PPT), explored their potentials for biotechnological applications, and investigated adaptation strategies of bacteria under harsh environmental conditions of the salt pan through whole-genome sequencing.2.
