Director Datacenter Technology Planning
CurrentAs Director of the Data Center Technology Planning team, I support TIAA’s Broomfield and Charlotte data centers. I am responsible for determining the demand forecast for the Data Center infrastructure and managing the lifecycle for TIAA’s hosting platforms. My responsibilities include partnering with architecture, engineering, and infrastructure operations for all core technology assets. At the outset, I adopted a more streamlined approach to lower costs and increase high-quality delivery, collaborating closely with business-aligned partners and key stakeholders across the enterprise and gaining consensus on direction. Working together we delivered a hosting dependency mapping capability. Linking the physical rack/PDU layer in the data centers up through the IT infrastructure stack to all 1,974 on-premise applications and platforms at the business at the unit level. Our team has proposed, presented, and provided a comprehensive ten-year Hybrid hosting strategy. This strategy creates an IT infrastructure and ROI model for cloud migration and sets the stage for our future technology planning and infrastructure management efforts. We also developed an IT infrastructure Internal Net Present Value-Based Five-year ROI model for Global Infrastructure services, comparing on-premise and cloud technology investments. We are leveraging the ROI model to evaluate Oracle Insurance Policy Administration and Kubernetes container investments for cloud migration. Our evaluation of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure resulted in 1,050 databases and approximately 350 applications.
