Profile bio

About Joleen Ossello

Growing up in Northwest Indiana, I was surrounded by the dunes of Lake Michigan and the colorful deciduous forests. After graduating from Indiana University in Bloomington, I interned as a seasonal Interpreter with West Virginia State Parks. I began to follow my dreams of being an Oceanographer by accepting an internship with Richardson Bay Audubon in Tiburon, CA. It was there my discovery of the intertidal zone and shorebirds began. I moved to inland Northern California to raise my daughter while substitute teaching in the local school system. I re-located to the Mendocino Coast to attend the local community college and receive an A.S. in Marine Science Technology. I started my own biological research business studying Black Oystercatchers for Audubon California and the local Mendocino Chapter. I enjoy my work inspiring the public as an interpreter for California State Parks. My passion for conservation of both natural and cultural history has kept me soaring on the edge of land and sea.

Listed skills include Nonprofits, Research, Program Development, Environmental Education, and 34 others.
