Just to start off, my favourite Dutch words are 'borrel', 'knuffel', 'gezellig' & 'schat'!Myself and my family (my husband of 20 years and 2 todlers) moved from South Africa (our beloved home country) to the Netherlands in January 2023 for a better and safer future for our children. We left behind our 3 businesses (of which one was an event management business we had for 12+ years) to start a new life in the Netherlands ... and yes, we are loving it here! A few things that stand out for me in the Netherlands are all the fun 'feestjes', the beautiful traditions as well as the happy sounding Dutch language with words like 'borrel', 'knuffel', 'gezellig' & 'schat'. Because my first language is Afrikaans, I do understand 80% of Dutch if one speaks 'langsaam' to me. So I want to invite everyone, as the singer, Kenny B, says: "Praat Nederlands met me" (as I really want to learn & speak Dutch fluently soon).I'm very, very passionate about marketing & events and have more than 22 years experience in organising as well as promoting small to very big events across Southern Africa. Having the golden opportunity to be employed as Brand Activation Manager at SugarFactory since April 2024....is something I'm super grateful for.On a personal note, I'm an adventure junkie and my husband and myself participate in a sport called Adventure Racing which includes many kilometres of trail running, mountain biking, kayaking as well as other disciplines like snorkeling, abseiling, via ferrata etc. I'm currently not participating in as many races as I used to before having children :)
