Ms Zhonglin (Jolin) Qu is an ICT associate lecturer in the School of Computer, Data & Mathematical Sciences at Western Sydney University. She finished her PhD in 2023 and her PhD research topic is: “Improving trust in genomic data analysis with explainable artificial intelligence”. She also got her MPhil degree with the thesis: “Using Machine Learning to Support Better and Intelligent Visualisation for Genomic Data”. Jolin’s research focuses on Visual Analytics, Machine Learning, Information Visualisation, Explainable AI, Genomic Data, Virtual Reality and Metaverse. Ms Zhonglin (Jolin) Qu has worked as a subject coordinator, a lecturer, and a tutor for more than five years and has taught a variety of postgraduate (PG) and undergraduate (UG) subjects at Western Sydney University (WSU) and the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), including Visualisation (PG, WSU), Data Visualisation (PG, UTS), Visual Analytics (UG, WSU), Artificial Intelligence (UG, WSU). The subjects range from 2- to 80 students. She had excellent teaching performance, as shown in the 2022 SFS for Visualisation and 2022 SFT for Visual Analytics. She also developed the teaching materials for a new subject at UTS named Data Visualisation and adapted the teaching materials for Q3 Visualisation at WSU.Ms Zhonglin (Jolin) Qu has ten years of software engineering experience, including leadership positions and has previously worked on different industry software projects before academia. During her five and a half years of academic time, she also passionately organised and engaged in various student events, including monthly school seminars, yearly Open Day, yearly writing retreats, and yearly university conferences. She attended industry technical events and communicated with industry leaders.
