Working in urban ad agencies, I excelled in the results-driven world of advertising/marketing, the ever-changing landscape of tourism, and the unique nature of local markets and their customers. As a rural resident, and self-described eco-nut, my family life revolved around local food, and a strong commitment to rural economies and sustainable farms. Volunteering around Agricultural Societies, gardening groups and Chambers of Commerce tables gave me a real insight into the challenges being faced in rural Canada, and by my local farmers. More than 10 years ago, I combined my professional and personal pursuits into a marketing consultancy that worked to push rural economies ahead. I have enjoyed leading collaborative marketing projects, consulting with economic development groups and destination marketing organizations as well as assisting small rural start-ups in finding solid economic footing. Some of my favourite work involves working directly with agritainment farmers in planning their agritourism opportunities and marketing. My down-to-earth nature, and analytical approach have grounded the work in thoughtful strategy strengthened by uniquely creative ideas. Recently, I have focused passionate efforts on agritourism product development and the local food, direct-to-farm economy. Over the years, I have enjoyed working with the public service, and progressive entrepreneurs, as well as many wonderful national non-governmental organizations. Keenly focused on sustainable and responsible results, I strive to be a responsible steward for the economies of tomorrow. I work hard to stay up-to-date in social, and mobile communication trends, and always keeping an ear out for the next progression in the industry.

Blogger And EditorAgritainmentweekly.Com 2015 - PresentAgritainmentweekly.ComAgritainmentWeekly.com is currently a personal blogging project, with the aspirations of becoming an industry collaborative. Regular, sometimes weekly, postings on my AgriTourism blog cover topics in marketing strategy, site design, analytics, online branding, and other interesting challenges and opportunities that I have in my consultancy practice, MacArt Studios. AgriTourism is my natural passion and life's work. It represents a combination of my experience and interest, and has provided the opportunity to work with progressive farmers and rural landowners and to develop natural facilities where memories are made! AgriTourism offers heritage farm properties a diversified and sustainable revenue source that relies on the engagement of a community and the re-energizing of our conversation about food and food production. I enjoy collaborating with budding AgriTourism facilities on site development, marketing strategy, proposal writing and creative brand development. I have worked with attractions from coast to coast to coast to coast all over Canada and the Unites States. I am keen to learn about Europe's Agritainment Market in coming years.
