I am responsible for the commercial application of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS or "drone") Technology for AECOM globally. My role is to help both internal and external clients improve the quality and speed of data collection for Engineering and Environmental studies through the use of UAS. Our work encompasses a wide variety of clients and business lines including Power Transmission and Generation, Oil and Gas, Mining, Transportation, Construction and Project Management and Biological and Environmental Studies.

I am responsible for the development of URS’ Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS or “Drone”) program throughout the world. I work within the Infrastructure and Environment Division (I&E) of URS and work closely with our Federal Services (FS) Division to bring UAS into the commercial sector. My job is to work with Client Service Managers worldwide to look for innovative solutions for our clients’ needs. UAS are in their infancy and the vast amount of information that can be collected by UAV’s will provide better, faster and cheaper information allowing more in-depth analysis and better and faster decision making. Although it is the flight systems that get the notoriety (and infamy), it is the sensors that make the UAVs function. As sensors are miniaturized, become more powerful, sensitive and use less power, the amount of information available to the decision makers will explode. UAVs can replace humans in jobs that are dirty, tedious and dangerous improving safety as well as the quality and volume of information. Whether it is in Engineering or Environmental Sciences, Construction, or nearly any industry UAVs will change how we do business for the better.

I am responsible for the growth and financial productivity of the four Bay Area offices including Oakland, San Francisco (Engineering), San Francisco CM/PM, and San Jose (over 600 employees). I have been very active in the management of dredging projects, finding solutions for the reuse or disposal of contaminated sediments and the remediation of contaminated sediment sites.I have also been driving the use of new technologies that bring new markets to URS and provide greater value to our customers. Recently, I have been leading our local effort to bring Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) or "Drones" to the private sector.
