I am a technology developmentalist and an ideator with a unique and targeted skill set. My expertise lies in; nucleic acid sequencing technologies, the role of DNA and RNA in biomarker and drug development and multi-disciplinary R&D management.As a member of an internationally recognized technology development group at The Genome Institute at Washington University, I developed novel sequencing methods and products while managing collaborations between multidisciplinary scientists and biotech companies. In 2009, I was one of the founders of Cofactor Genomics, a predictive immune modeling company, that builds diagnostics for response to immunotherapy. Currently, I am building the R&D team at Jumpcode Genomics as we build out our CRISPR-based genomics tools portfolio. The WUCap method was instrumental in the completion of Pilot 3 of the The Cancer Genome Atlas Project (TCGA).• Project managed, beta-tested, and refined wet-lab procedures for Agilent Technologies SureSelect, Roche SeqCap, and RainDance Technologies RDT 1000 platforms.• Developed a sub-picogram whole genome amplification procedure used for characterization of bacterial pools for the Human Microbiome Project.• Designed a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) multilocus sequence typing (MLST) test for methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus resulting in multiple peer-reviewed publications.• Alpha- and beta-tested all aspects, including wet-lab, hardware, and software of the Roche (454), Illumina (Solexa), and Life Technologies (Applied Biosystems) next-generation sequencing platforms prior to commercialization; participation led to protocol optimizations and improvement of workflow bottlenecks.• Developed Chromosome 2, 7, and 11 bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) arrays, which led to the discovery of del(2) progression factor in Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL).• Designed and developed the Washington University C. elegans Whole Genome Oligo Array (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/arrayexpress/arrays/A-GEOD-9458/) providing researchers a previously unavailable resource. This array has sold thousands of units to date.• Led the development and testing of new techniques for microarray fabrication and probe design overcoming technical challenges and developing best practices for consistent manufacture and optimal performance.
