Direct and coordinates activities of Engineering department to design, manufacture, and test components, products, and systems by performing the following functions personally or through subordinates:Oversee directing department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.Analyze technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.Assist with advising management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.Provide direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities.Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.Maintain a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of one’s self and others are performed in a safe manner.Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsible for electrical controls and PLC/HMI programming support for the manufacturing of automotive braking system components such as Drum Brakes, Parking Brakes, Brake Pedals and Brake Booster Assemblies.Creation and modification of PLC programs utilizing Mitsubishi GX Developer and GX Works software packages, OMRON CX Programmer software, and Allen Bradley RS Logix 500, 5000/Studio 5000 software.HMI programming to include ProFace GP-Pro, Mitsubishi GT Works 3, and Rockwell FactoryTalk View Studio software packages.Modification of FANUC CNC PMC ladder logic using FANUC Ladder III software package.Update and maintenance of process flow and FMEA documentation.

Responsible for improvements in process up-time, yield, make-ready time, consumable cost/usage reduction as well as technical support for maintenance staff. Additional responsibilities included budgeting annual repair and maintenance cost, capital improvements, and process maintenance technician manpower. Also had responsibility for process technicians to include interviewing and conducting annual performance reviews. Experience with testing/evaluation of UV curable inks and process chemicals, programming of Siemens S5/S7 and OMRON PLCs, and Siemens HMIs.
