Dataroad Ltd are IT infrastructure specialists in both the Architecture and Engineering arenas, focused on the Microsoft stack (M365, Azure and on-prem). Over the years, Dataroad have successfully migrated a number of Private and Public organisations into Microsoft 365, utilising both Hybrid and Staged configurations. For the last few years, Dataroad have been involved with the UK policing's National Enabling Programme. This programme involved a comprehensive set of designs to provide a secure and functional cloud based platform for UK policing based on M365. Dataroad was originally engaged by Wiltshire Police, as Lead Architect, to design and implement a green field IT replacement programme that incorporated the NEP designs. This involved designing a complete replacement on-premise infrastructure to migrate users onto after splitting from a partner IT provider. The designs provided by Dataroad covered the over all High Level Design, as well as Low Level Designs for Active Directory Directory Services (ADDS), Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), Exchange Hybrid infrastructure, Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) and Active Directory Connect (now called Microsoft Entra Connect).In addition to developing the designs, Dataroad provided engineering skills to deploy ADDS, ADCS, ADFS, Active Directory Connect and Exchange Hybrid in accordance to the designs. Dataroad also stepped in to provided management of the NetApp SAN. The user and data migrations were planned and implemented by Dataroad.Having successfully achieved the above, both on time and within budget, the central NEP programme engaged Dataroad as a Solution Architect to provide services around design uplift reviews and improvements to the designs based on real world feedback from forces. Dataroad were also closely involved with a number of forces advising on their design rollouts and uplifts.

As a member of the Technical and Professional team, I carried out project-based consultancy work for new and existing customers. Responsible for assisting the company’s expansion into new technology areas thereby expanding its customer base and profile.

Carried out work for Vivista, and then Steria exclusively on the Wiltshire Council IT Outsource Contract. Senior member of the Projects Team, this role was varied and involved the introduction of new technologies and solutions into the Council’s infrastructure. Prior to this I was a senior member of the Server Infrastructure team supporting approximately 200 servers, 4500 users across multiple local and remote sites.

I worked as a member of the team involved in designing, implementing and supporting Active Directory, Exchange and IIS infrastructures. This involved hardware and software support for over 120 servers, including Exchange Servers, IIS Web Servers, Mail Marshal proxy servers and backup servers.

This role encompassed technical consultancy and 3rd line support. It involved presales technical consultancy, proposal documentation, design documentation and subsequent implementation. System designs were varied, but largely involved Active Directory and Exchange. The role also included 3rd line support for the in house support team as well as providing support for customer IT administrators through the combination of telephone based and remote system access based support.

The role involved designing, developing and supporting a IIS based shared web hosting infrastructure to be sold as part of the companies ISP package. The company need a product that could be sold to ASP developers, as their main product was Linux based hosting.

The Role involved overall responsibility for all aspects of IT infrastructure, including servers and routers. It also involved support the telephone system which was used by a number of other companies.
