Quantify major users of water throughout the refinery, identify optimization/reduction opportunities, and communicate recommendations to interdepartmental groups through new site reporting process. Develop and maintain site-wide water demand projections that are used by production planning, process engineers, and project managers. Assist Operations teams with evaluating and auditing water savings opportunities that have reduced site water intake by 5% (~1,000 gpm) from July to February 2021. Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams to identify underground water leaks and develop economically feasible repair strategies to reduce site water intake.

Process engineer for Distillate Desulfurizing Units (Kerosene and Diesel Hydrotreaters) June 2016 - October 2018 and Aromatics Recovery Unit (UOP Sulfolane liquid liquid extraction unit) November 2018 - March 2020.Assist Operations department with daily troubleshooting and optimization of key process units at MPC's Galveston Bay Refinery. Assist Production Planning department with planning unit rates, communicating reliability and mechanical threats, and optimizing the distillate hydrotreaters with respect to other process units and market demands. Plan and coordinate performance tests to meet changing product specifications and troubleshoot product quality problems. Lead and assist with process related projects for margin, reliability, environmental, product quality and/or safety. Participate in and lead PSM efforts, including Management of Change processes and incident investigations.Contributed to success of major turnarounds in 1Q2017 for the Distillate Desulfurizing Units (kerosene and diesel hydrotreaters) and 1Q18 for the Ultraformer Unit #3 (fixed bed reformer), including supporting a multidisciplinary team in completing new projects, technical inspection of vessels, towers, and heat exchangers, major maintenance on existing equipment, functional check out of new and existing equipment upgrades, catalyst changeouts, and unit start ups.

Created and regularly updated a document that uses technical and economic analysesto assist in scheduling heat exchanger cleaning for the Crude Distillation Unit’s preheat exchangers.Developed a model of the Vacuum Distillation Unit’s fired heater using fired heater software FRNC5.Assisted with the technical analysis for reliability and optimization projects, including a maximum rate test run of the refinery’s Light Crude Fractionator unit and the resizing of control valves in the Crude and Vacuum Distillation units.
