Quotient Bioresearch is now Pharmaron UK, part of the successful, Beijing based Pharmaron Group who provide CRO and CMO services to the Pharmaceutical Industry. Radio-labeling is a unique technology that allows the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) of candidate new drugs to be studied. Often, the key to a successful study is the delivery of the labeled test substance. My specialty is the design of synthetic routes that can achieve this. Having designed and costed out a route, another part of my role is to convince the client that we can deliver the test article on time and to spec. In this I am aided by over 30 years’ experience in organic chemistry (28 years in radio-labeling) and facing clients plus the ability to speak Chemistry and International English. The mix of molecules being developed has changed over time and I have been instrumental in keeping my company’s capabilities up to date, for example in labeling of biologicals and oligonucleotides in addition to small molecules.
