Brigadier (Reservist) | Colonel Commandant Royal New Zealand Army Logistics Regiment
Wellington
I continue to serve in the NZDF as a Brigadier in the Army Reserve. During my 40 year career I have held many regimental, training and staff appointments throughout my full-time military career leading/representing up to 2,300 full-time and part-time, servicemen, servicewomen and NZDF civilians in various roles primarily in logistics units providing transport, catering, repair, supply and movement co-ordination services and in reserve organisations. I have deployed on operational peacekeeping tours to the Middle East, to the Former Republic of Yugoslavia and to East Timor, where I was in charge of the logistic support operations. In 2004, after 22 years of full-time military service, I transferred to the part-time Territorial Force Army Reserve After fulfilling roles such as the Deputy Brigade Commander and Director of Army Reserve I was appointed as the Director General Reserve Forces & Youth Development in 2013 in the rank of Brigadier. In this latter role I was responsible for championing Reserve Policy and supporting the running of a number of Government schemes. Specifically, these were the Ministry of Education’s 29 Service Academy programmes in secondary schools and the Ministry of Social Development’s six-week military residential Limited Service Volunteer programme for up to 1,500 long-term unemployed 18-24 year olds per annum. My fantastic Team also provided support to 403 Cadet Officers and over 3000 13-17 year-old cadets in 100 community-owned units across the country. On 1 July 2016 I transferred to the Standby Reserve. Since then I have been appointed Patron of the RNZASC-RNZCT-RNZALR Association, the City of Hamilton Cadet Unit and the Waikato Mounted Rifles, Royal New Zealand Armoured Corps Association. On 3 October 2019 I took up the role of Colonel Commandant (Honorary Patron) Royal New Zealand Army Logistic Regiment
