Advised and supported the newly appointed, US Senate-confirmed DEA Administrator on matters related to the media, public affairs, government relations, and community outreach.ADVANCING THE ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION—STRATEGICALLY & FEARLESSLY• Recognized the role of public affairs and government relations in confronting the opioid epidemic, and created programs that connected the DEA with community groups.• Established the first-ever National Family Summit on the Opioid Epidemic, involving representatives from 80 organizations owned and run by parents who lost children to drug poisoning or overdose.• Headed development of the Faces of Fentanyl Memorial.

New England Field Division

Tapped for the Senior Executive Service (SES) and advanced to a new role to oversee investigations, operations, and compliance for the New England Division. Directed and mobilized the efforts of nearly 500 employees at DEA offices in six states to identify, investigate, and dismantle multinational criminal organizations.Established and sustained open communication between the division and DEA headquarters, including the Senate-approved CEO (administrator) and other executives, including CIO and CFO.PROVIDING STRONG, PEOPLE-FOCUSED LEADERSHIP FOR INVESTIGATIONS, OPERATIONS & COMMUNITY RELATIONS• Designed ahead-of-the-curve programs to fight drug trafficking, money laundering (and threat finance), violent crime, and the diversion of legally produced pharmaceuticals.• Drove the Continuity of Operations Plan (business continuity plan) to ensure uninterrupted operations during disasters and crisis events. Implemented solutions for disaster response, emergency planning, and security management.

Returned to the field to infuse new energy, expertise, and commitment into criminal investigations as the opioid epidemic grabbed hold of the American public in all the worst ways. Headed initiatives to target, investigate, and take down drug trafficking organizations—while increasing the DEA’s presence in the community.Managed budgets, directed administrative matters, and oversaw 100 employees operating out of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont—including the northern United States border. Partnered with law enforcement, businesses, nonprofits, and other groups (as well as the media) to engage, inform, educate, influence, and support the community during this challenging time.BALANCING INVESTIGATIVE LEADERSHIP WITH CRITICAL PUBLIC OUTREACH• Coached and inspired team members and worked with counterparts to execute hard-hitting investigations with impact in the US and overseas. • Shifted priorities to place community needs at the center of DEA operations and investigations.• Created the first-ever Opioid Summit for Youth, attended by nearly 8,500 teenagers bussed in from schools across the country. Forged an alliance between DEA and Hollywood’s Wahlberg family to roll out similar events nationwide.• Supervised and assisted with sensitive, confidential workplace investigations.
