Accurate Background has been providing background screening services since 1997. I was brought on as Solutions Architect to help transform a 20 year old technology platform into something more modern. The challenge was enormous, it would have been easy to scrap everything and start fresh but that was not an option. I had to introduce something new and keep the existing applications working. I mentored young, hungry, fresh out of college software engineers and also introduced new technology to well seasoned engineers. Having Engineering in my DNA, I wanted to be hands-on. Having worked as a DevOps Engineer for the last year and working on the most cutting edge technology at the time, I wanted to be in the trenches with the software engineers, system admins, DBAs, and product managers; so I put on my full-stack/DevOps developer hat and partitioned my time as developer, team lead, manager, and mentor. The challenge was enormous and the workload was tremendous but at the end of the day it was exactly where I wanted to be -creating value and making things better. Going on 20 years as an engineer, not being as sharp as I was before, definitely not the same energy level, but my solutions have never been better. My adventure with Accurate Background has just started and for now I'll end it by quoting an American Author, "All of the top achievers I know are life-long learners...
