With 32 years' experience as a local Councillor and 16 years as Nottingham City Council Leader, I’ve been at the heart of the council’s policy making on regeneration, transport and strategic planning, property sales and management, economic development, housing, stakeholder engagement and education. As a result I understand how local government works and how decisions are made. I know how partnerships work too, having been a board member of Midland Engine and Midland Connect, D2N2 (the Local Enterprise Partnership), East Midlands Councils, Chaired Nottinghamshire Police Authority and East Midlands HS2 Programme Board and been vice-chair of the UK Core Cities Group.
