CurrentJan 2017 – Present Day, Hertfordshire Students’ Union - The Forum Hertfordshire.Current Position - Operations Manager.Responsibilities• Achieving financial objectives/KPI’s through event planning and management, budget creation (and monitoring) and financial reporting.• Prepare health and safety plans and ensure health and safety legislation is met within a high-risk environment to ensure the safety of staff, students and customers.• Attend joint working groups with University, Police, Council, Fire Brigade and all organisations in relation to venues and event operation to ensure compliance with legal requirements.• Lead and develop the management team and 120 casual staff into well trained, safety conscious personnel to achieve departmental goals and organisational strategy. • To lead and support direct reports in the management of commercial income streams including private hire, corporate hire, media sales, night club events and new business opportunities to increase revenue. • Source, negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and contractors including wholesale suppliers, security companies, caterers, audio/visual suppliers to ensure high standards are achieved whilst maintaining cost control. • Departmental strategy planning ensuring objectives are being met though regular meetings with the team.• Oversee the commercial marketing plan, to ensure vibrant and exciting advertising campaigns are achieved on social media platforms and email communication channels.• Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, contractors and general business network through regular communication and the sharing of ideas and initiatives.• To update working policies and review, monitor and improve the delivery of training procedures. • To lead on events and entertainments programme, ensuring it remains relevant to our customers through focus groups for diverse opinions, whilst maintaining affordability.
