Captain “Jon” T. Crampton is an experienced marine professional with over 35 years of experience in the maritime industry. As a manager, Jon has chaired or participated in dozens of accident, incident and near miss investigation boards, served as an expert, giving depositions in connection with marine casualties, and has provided opinions and testimony with regard to the various issues arising out of such casualties, including causation and culpability. He is accustomed to working with ship owners, cargo owners, oil terminals, underwriters, admiralty attorneys, and commercial claims representatives.Over the years, Jon has performed dozens of damage surveys for the purpose of ascertaining the nature, extent and apparent cause of damage sustained as a result of various occurrences such as collision, stranding, fire, explosion, machinery failure, crew negligence, heavy weather, pollution and the like. Jon has also performed numerous regulatory compliance inspections while serving as a regulator with the US Coast Guard as well as preparing vessels for US Coast Guard and ABS compliance inspections as a commercial manager and as a vessel master.Specialties: Twenty years of service in the US Coast Guard, 6 years as the General Manager of an offshore lightering support company, with and additional 3 years as its health & safety manager. Jon is a retired US Coast Guard Chief Quartermaster, where he served as a: Deck Officer, Navigator, Law Enforcement Officer, Commercial Vessel Inspector, Marine Pollution Investigator, Hazardous Chemical Release First Responder, Search & Rescue Coordinator and Maritime License Administrator.
