I have worked in FE for 27 years and have been a practising professional artist since doing my first paid work as a Graphic Designer and illustrator at the age of 13! In the last 18 months, I have set up my own private Art school in North Lincolnshire which runs over a number of sites, five days a week and am the co owner of a stylish Art cafe bistro in Barton upon Humber with my wife Ruthanne,We have left behind the world of FE and are living the dream, I thoroughly recommend it!I have broad skills across the whole of Art and Design and as well as Graphic Design. I have had a successful professional career as a painter and a sculptor and was rewarded for this by being made a member of the Chelsea Arts Club in 1998 which was a great honour.After teaching Art and Design across Kent for several years I was made Head of Art and Design at Canterbury College in 1996 and led the team to a National Inspection grade 1 for Creative two years later.I have had the privilege of working with some amazing artists and outstanding teachers over the years and educating young people to the very highest standard to prepare them for a fruitful, creative and enjoyable life is still my greatest passion.I am an innovator and driver and adaptable to a whole range of working environments which was illustrated when I led a successful bid to gain the much coveted Gold Award from Investors in people who have subsequently referred me to advise several other large companies on their own successful bids including the Institute of Financial Studies and BAE electronics.After a successful tenure as Faculty Head of Creative Arts, in 2009 I was promoted to Director of Quality and Innovations, then two years later to Director of Curriculum and Quality and in 2012 I became Assistant Principal of Teaching and Learning at Canterbury College where I led a 16% improvement in Ofsted Teaching and Learning grades in my first year.Now, I am enjoying the challenges my new life brings!
