Operations Officer & Lead ControllerAs the senior watchstander at my unit, I've have an amazing opportunity to step into this new role in my final year in the Coast Guard. In this position, I will oversee the operational execution of 42 watchstanders across 5 positions in multi-mission operations ranging from the East Pacific to the Arctic.Senior Watch Officer:I'm thrilled to share that I've been promoted to Senior Watch Officer at my current unit. In this exciting new position, I'm responsible for overseeing the training, evaluations, and work schedules of 20 full-time watchstanders who are either qualified or pursuing qualification as Command Duty Officers (CDOs) at the PAC/D11 Command Center. The CDO is the highest qualification attained at our unit, and once qualified CDOs supervise a team of skilled watchstanders coordinating Coast Guard missions 24/7 in the Pacific theater. It's an honor to step up and support these dedicated men and women!Command Duty Officer: 12hr shifts supervising Coast Guard operations across 74 million square miles. Conducts daily operational briefings for three admirals driving Coast Guard geostrategic operations in Western Hemisphere. Manages 5-person team as primary representative for admirals from two different Coast Guard command chains.Law Enforcement Duty Officer: Provides decision briefings to the District 11 Coast Guard Admiral to approve and executelaw enforcement activities in Southern California & Eastern Pacific. Control of tactical operations for counter-narcotic, illegal fisheries, and migrant interdiction missions. Supervised interdiction of 10 boatloads of illegal drugs with street value of $587M.Search & Rescue Operations Controller: Holds launch authority for all Coast Guard boats, cutters, and air stations in California. Managed over 170 multi-mission cases including multiple long range (200+ mile) medical evacuations resulting in 125 lives saved/assisted.

Command Duty Officer: 24hr shifts directing 4-person watch team overseeing Coast Guard operations throughout 18,000 miles of shoreline and over 1,000 islands in Southeast Alaska. Oversaw Coast Guard response to 38 multi-mission cases resulting in saving/assisting 25 lives & $550k property. Supervisor for 26 people during a period of COVID case saturation; implemented policy to ensure unit readiness.Assistant Incident Management Division Chief: Supervised 7 personnel & oversaw federal response to 124 pollution incidents in Southeast Alaska. Managed personnel admin, projects, travel, and equipment procurement. Coordinated logistics for first interagency pollution response tactics exercise in Juneau, AK with resounding success.Haines Landslide Operations Section Chief: Organized team logistics and deployed to the disaster-stricken Alaskan community in the wake of a deadly landslide event.
