I began my undergraduate degree in 2012 in chemical engineering. My main extracurricular involvement while completing this degree was with Engineers Without Borders. I was a member of this group for over three years as part of a water supply project in Kianjavato, Madagascar. During this time I traveled to Madagascar twice to work on this project and held a leadership position for two years. In 2017 I received the university-wide Student Leadership Award for my work with Engineers Without Borders. My junior year I competed a 7 month internship with Syngenta in Omaha, Nebraska. For the remainder of my undergraduate degree I worked as a rock climbing instructor at the campus rock wall. As I neared the completion of my undergraduate degree, I began to focus my classwork towards environmental engineering and water and wastewater treatment, and upon graduating was accepted into graduate school for civil-environmental engineering. While completing this degree I researched the behavior of antibiotics in animal waste and took classwork related to environmental chemistry, hydrology, pollution prevention, and physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes.
