Perform duties as certified shipyard competent persons responsible for certifying safe atmospheres in all confined spaces; obtain dew point readings and certify safe piping pathways. Responsible Air filtration Manifold compliance in accordance with Division directives. Perform fire safety inspections and fire code enforcement in accordance with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, RI Fire Code and Navy 045 Shipbuilding standards. Responsible for issuance of fire discrepancies and identification of corrective measures for area supervision. Responsible for monthly inspections of all facility fixed fire protection systems in accordance with applicable code and FM Global directives. Responsible for weighting and refilling both hand held and wheeled portable fire extinguishers. Responsible for maintaining current Hydrostatic testing on all fire hose and steel shell extinguishers on facility and reporting any shortcomings to the Fire Chief. Assist with facility quantitative respirator fit testing as needed. Perform all aspects of emergency rescue services and maintain certifications as an Emergency Medical technician, High Angle Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue and HAZ-MAT Incident response. Perform other duties as deemed necessary by Fire Marshal Office supervision.
