Because the entire biomedical knowledge base is contained within these abstracts (or at least the major results of research projects), by automatically extracting this information, we were able to compile a database of existing and new interactions that appear on PubMed. My responsibilities included developing code to extract such information from over 20+ million abstracts, training, testing, and modifying Bayesian Networks (BNs) for machine learning approaches to NLP, and curation of gene, disease, protein, and microRNA dictionaries and databases. -
