Leaving university in 1973 with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering I joined the CEGB where I worked as a controls system engineer for 17 years. During this time I became Chair of the Avon Wildlife Trust and on privatisation of the electricity industry I became Director of the Trust. On retirement in 2002 I was elected as a Liberal Democrat town and district councillor for Portishead. I am a founder member of Transition Portishead and Low Carbon Gordano and lived in Portishead between 1973 and 2016. Now living in Croyde, North Devon.
