Making an exciting new game with the good folks at KO_OP!

I'm a freelance game designer and programmer working in the tabletop, digital, and immersive events gaming spaces.

I am currently contracting with Chuhai Labs on their next game, working closely with our designers to develop foundational systems, tooling, and individual gameplay elements.

I led Rec Room's Core Technologies team, which encompassed performance, networking, UI, tools, and build infrastructure. We eventually split that team into two separate teams, and I continued leading the Tools team. Some of our major efforts included revamping our UI system, adding localization support, and scaling our build system to support hundreds of employees building, testing and shipping the game on seven platforms every other week.

I was one of the earliest employees at Rec Room, and I got to help scale the game from a PC VR-only sports and social game into a living UGC platform that runs on just about every device under the sun. While at Rec Room, I built VR gameplay interactions, architected our early UGC systems, and led our port to iOS.

I was one of 3 client engineers at Niantic during the launch of Pokémon Go. I re-architected the game's UI systems, polished AR and gameplay features, optimized shaders, and eventually pitched and developed the initial launch of multiplayer raid battles.

I worked briefly on Age of Empires 2 HD and Halo 5: Guardians before moving to work on pre-release demo and showcase AR apps for the HoloLens, including HoloStudio and RoboRaid.

I helped prototype potential new mobile entries in the Age of Empires franchise.

I spent a summer working on the PlayN game development abstraction library for Google. I was in charge of revamping the Android deployment and implementing an OpenGL ES 2.0-based sprite and canvas renderer.
