He has left me with big shoes to fill, but I have inherited a great staff who is dedicated to helping Veterans, and their dependants. Whether the job necessitates help with filing a claim, representing during a hearing or simply communicating with our clients to help them understand the process they find themselves in, or staff is there to be the experts regarding your claim and benefits. Because the St. Paul VARO, finds itself in a unique situation of having not only the regular disability claims from Minnesota. They also broker in from other states, deal with sensitive claims from all over the nation, hold the Pension Maintenance Center for 23 States, and the Debt Management Center for most States. Because of the multitude of issues handled here, our people need to be educated across the board.

Have been successful in advancing numerous troops into the ranks of NCO. I feel more accomplished with the ongoing success of my soldiers than the job itself. I've never deployed to do my job, it feels like it's been more of a renaissance roll than that of a rocket jockey.
My job role has changed. My main focus now revolves around perfecting appeals that go to Washington, D.C. The other aspect is to train in our newest Service Officers, which I enjoy immensely. In a nutshell our job is to be experts regarding Title 38 of the C.F.R or 38 U.S.C. and fight to obtain the benefits that our Veterans dually deserve.
All-in-all, my job consists of fighting the Federal Government on a daily basis. I represent veterans in regards to benefits they may be entitled to. Mainly disability compensation, pension benefits, healthcare benefits, educational benefits and so on. It is definitely rewarding to say the least.
I did some fishing in the Gulf...Had internet in my bunk...Spent time with the Navy, Coast Guard and Marines, along with the Kuwaiti Navy.
Convoy Security, expulsion of munitions at weapons caches, learned to develop my bond and establish a tight cohesive team. In general, make friends/brothers that I will have for life.
